Landmark Co-Op Greenwich Village Apartment Renovation

105 W 13th St, NYC, NY:

Sometimes old fashioned calls for a facelift...

Before & After

Greenwich Village is a neighborhood beloved by many people. Known for its historic architecture, tree-lined streets, boutique shops, and lively nightlife, it has everything you need. The new owner of this apartment wanted the place to get a fresh and modern look before he could move in and call it home.

This amazing apartment received a full gut renovation. The building itself was quite old and lacked natural light in both the bedrooms and living room, which were essential areas for our client, a young man who enjoys having his friends over. Our client requested a modern and bright aesthetic for his apartment with a gold accent. To bring our clients vision to life, we installed dimmable ceiling lights throughout the apartment, including in the bedrooms and living room, creating a customizable ambiance.

The kitchen was designed with Calacatta gold for the backsplash and countertops, which complements the white cabinets with golden handles. A larger refrigerator and range with two ovens were installed and we added an extra water pipe to install an ice machine in the refrigerator, which the client was particularly eager to have. To further enhance the space, we installed a drybar in the living room that matched the finishes of the kitchen, perfect for those moments when our client wants to enjoy a drink with friends.

Our client wanted both bathrooms to have the same white with gold luxurious aesthetic. Therefore, with the same finishes, the Chapter team designed featuring marbled mosaic tiles on the floors and larger marbled tiles on the walls. To achieve the client’s preference for storage, we added niches in the shower areas for holding bottles, rather than installing shelves on the walls. One of the bathrooms underwent a shower conversion, while the guest bathroom was fitted with a new pocket door to create a greater sense of space within the interior. This resulted in two beautiful bright-looking bathrooms that met the clients’ wishes perfectly.

Upgrading the laundry room was one of the top priorities for the client. He wanted it to be easily accessible and have a clean and fresh look. A white countertop was placed on top of the washer and dryer and beautiful white subway tiles were installed. To optimize the space, we replaced the traditional door with a pocket door, which not only contributes to a more spacious feel but also enhances the overall aesthetic. To add to the classic aesthetic, we fabricated white radiators and AC covers that were installed throughout the apartment. The dark wooden floors were substituted with a brighter wood finish, resulting in a noticeable increase in the apartment’s perceived spaciousness. Lastly, the client wanted all the rooms repainted in brighter colors to further brighten the interior, creating the perfect home for him.
