Tribeca Pre-War Bathroom Renovation

462 Greenwich St, NYC, NY:

Monochrome urban bathroom with every relaxing option

A bathroom renovation can make a big difference in the feel of your home. This is what motivated our Greenwich project clients to tackle their master bathroom transformation. For this project, we were asked to create a spacious monochromatic urban spa-like retreat for some alone time after a long day at work. Looking to design a functional space with low maintenance, the Chapter team imagined the perfect concept for clients’ needs. The first step was to re-arrange the layout of the master bathroom planning for an over-sized walk-in shower while leaving enough room to fit a bathtub, vanity, and toilet. The material choice was instrumental in creating a minimalist yet urban feeling.

With a rough, earthy color palette, the Chapter team suggested to use extra-large tiles with invisible grouting lines to create a concrete look and make for an easy maintenance. The matte black finishes were an intuitive choice to complement the gray textured look of the tiles. While to create contrast with the rest of the room, the Chapter team suggested to use wooden accessories such as the vanity to inject some modernity to the overall space. During the project, the clients asked to remain in their apartment as the renovation only touched one room of their home. The Chapter team therefore planned accordingly to reduce the disturbance to a minimum.

As this project had a month-long timeline, the first two weeks were dedicated to anticipation, and precise management, allowing for all the materials and finishes to be delivered before the beginning of the work. When ready, the strategy was then to focus on the installation of the new master bathroom during the two remaining weeks of project. Although on a tight schedule, the Chapter team maintained constant communication with the building and its clients to insure for a smooth and timely renovation process.
