For this UWS duplex project, the Chapter team was brought on to manage the combination of two duplex apartments and fully gut renovate the space. The client’s vision was to create a 4-bedroom and 4-bathrooms apartment blending modern luxury and unique Italian finishes.

In addition to an impressive 2,000 square feet floorplan, this unique duplex benefits from a spacious terrace with amazing views of the Upper West Side. Many of the finishes and materials were made-to-measure and directly imported from Italy, which required a diligent and detailed coordination in anticipation of and during the entire project. Pro-active communication allowed for the Chapter team to align with vendors on all customized orders resulting in an efficient project scheduling which minimized construction periods. Completing this renovation ahead of schedule while achieving Chapter’s high-quality standards made for this project to be a true success!

The kitchen was an important part of this renovation project, as it is a place of gathering and building memories for our clients. It wasn’t only about designing a beautiful space, it also needed to be functional.

Each detail was carefully selected to make their lives easier and more comfortable. The Chapter team installed high-end lacquered cabinets for easy maintenance, smart appliances for stress-free cooking and created an open kitchen for entertainment.

A structural challenge we came across during this project was the removal of one of the duplex’s original steel staircases. Thanks to our engineer, the Chapter team was able to keep the apartment structurally sound while minimizing the impact on adjacent neighboring apartment. In the new layout, we extended the structural slab to create a spacious master bathroom including a standing shower, and heat-controlled floors. Using Italian Carrara marble tiles with custom-made vanities made the perfect balance between elegance and functionality.
